Two new principals
1998: The GEA (teacher’s union) and District 87 School Board cannot come to terms with the new teacher contract. The teachers vote to strike, delaying the start of school for one week. The strike is finally settled after a car plows into teachers marching at Glenbard South High School. No one is injured, but a settlement comes quickly after that.
Dr. Pam Zimmermann is named the 8th principal. After her tenure at GWHS, she moves to the Dist. 87 administrative office where she serves as assistant superintendent of instruction.
Dr. Jane Thorsen is named the 9th principal.
